The World Chess Championship 2013 between the defending champion Viswanathan Anand and the challenger Magnus Carlsen is going to take place 07-28 November, 2013, in Chennai, India.
Magnus Carlsen (Norway) won the Candidates Tournament 2013 after the thrilling finish to become the official challenger of reigning World Champion Viswanathan Anand.
Viswanathan Anand (India) retained the title of the World Champion after defeating the challenger Boris Gelfand in the FIDE World Chess Championship Match in Moscow, Russia.
The match for the highest crown in chess in Chennai will consist of 12 games (schedule here). In case of a tie, rapid and blitz tiebreak will be played (rules here).
The time control of each game for Carlsen – Anand 2013 is 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting after move 61 has been made.
